Lightweight marble transcends traditional boundaries, offering an exceptional blend of beauty, functionality, and durability. This innovative material retains all the captivating allure of natural stone while introducing groundbreaking possibilities for design and application.
The Innovation Behind Lightweight Marble
Traditional Lightweight Marble
The production of lightweight marble involves a meticulous process of combining thin marble slabs with lightweight backing panels. These panels come in three variants: aluminium honeycomb, polypropylene, and high-density polyurethane foams. Once assembled, the sandwich panel undergoes precision cutting with a diamond wire, resulting in two lightweight marble panels. These panels are then calibrated and finished to achieve the desired look. Now it is simply backed by a fiberglass resin reducing the cost significantly compared to traditional aluminum honeycomb backings.
A Modern Twist on a Timeless Material
Lightweight marble represents a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic material. Its innovative form opens up new avenues for designers, offering a viable alternative to traditional materials like wood.
Advantages of Choosing Lightweight Marble
Unparalleled Lightness
Compared to conventional marble slabs weighing approximately 58 kilograms per square meter at a 20-millimeter thickness, lightweight marble weighs just 16 kilograms per square meter and lower depending on your desired thickness. This significant reduction in weight makes it an ideal choice for projects where weight constraints are a concern. The standard thickness now is 3mm for natural stone slabs used in construction. But in certain designs, we produce 0.8mm thickness inorder for the stone to bend around columns.
