Marble is most commonly used as a structural material in homes - for countertops, wall tiles and floors. However, it can also be a beautiful and practical material for many types of furniture. Below are just some of the different forms of furniture that you can incorporate marble into.
Coffee table
A marble coffee table can make a luxurious centrepiece to a living room. Given that no two slabs of marble are the same, you can be certain that your coffee table will be unique - if well maintained it can hold a lot of value. Such coffee tables are also guaranteed to last for years given that marble is so durable. Just make sure to protect your marble coffee table from ring marks by using coasters with hot drinks. A marble coffee table may also be best avoided if you have young kids (it will hurt if they run into it!).
Dining table
Want to impress guests at dinner parties? A marble dining table is certain to provide the wow factor when people enter your dining room. White marble dining tables will help reflect light and brighten up the space. A black marble dining table will meanwhile give your dining room a more edgy look. Marble dining tables are certain to look spectacular for years on end, however you will need to protect them from stains by cleaning up spillages as soon as possible (especially spillages of acidic drinks like orange juice).
Bedside table
Marble can also be used as a surface material for a bedside table. This is a small but effective way to bring some luxury to your bedroom. Marble stays cool even in hot summer temperatures, which means that your ice cold glass of water next to your bed will stay ice cold longer. Consider two marble tables either side of a bed to provide balance. You can also buy marble side tables for placing next to a sofa in a living room.
Sideboard
A marble sideboard could be a striking statement furniture piece for a living room or dining room. Because such an item of furniture draws attention, people will notice any ornaments or pictures you place on it. You can help to emphasise your sideboard’s shine by adding a tabletop lamp or hanging a sconce on the wall above. A benefit of choosing a sideboard for a marble furniture solution is that it also isn’t heavily used - so you don’t have to worry as much about it being damaged by stains from spillages or scratches.
Desk
You can also use marble as a desk surface. This can bring a sense of grandeur to an office space that can make it more inviting - helping you to stay enthusiastic and productive while working. If clients come into your office, a marble desk is also certain to give off a sense of professionalism and success. You might not be able to afford to give a large team of employees all marble desks, however for executives it can be a great option.
